Heading 5
Welcome to K9s to Furkids
Where rescue meets purpose.
K9s to Furkids is a small, powerhouse rescue and service dog training program in north-central West Virginia. We take in dogs — primarily German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, and the brilliant mixes in between — who deserve a second chance and a real job.
Here, every dog is evaluated, understood, and given a path forward. Some become life-changing service dogs for individuals who’ve slipped through the cracks of traditional agencies. Others graduate into loving homes as well-mannered, well-balanced family companions. Either way, they leave better than they arrived — and that’s the point.
What We Stand For
-
Rescue with intention
We specialize in high-drive, working-minded breeds that need structure, clarity, and purpose. -
Rehab done right
Dogs live with our Director/Behaviorist in a structured home environment — 24/7 — to undo the chaos they came from and get them ready for their future. -
Service dog training that works
We evaluate honestly, train ethically, and cut the nonsense. Not every dog is meant for service work… but the ones who are? We make sure they shine. -
People first, always! We help families that traditional programs overlook — because disability doesn’t wait 5–10 years for a dog.
A Different Kind of Program
We aren’t a giant facility. We’re not funded by big donors (yet).
We’re a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground, in-the-home program run with grit, heart, and thirty years of real-world experience.
And somehow, this little operation keeps changing lives — two legs and four.
