Service Dog Training Program
& All Things Dog!
Training, Socializing, Rehabilitation, Rescues, Pets, & Service Dogs welcome!
K9s to Furkids provides expert training, socialization, rehabilitation, and placement of dogs — from pets to rescue dogs to life-changing service dogs.
Rescue
We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in West Virginia, focusing on German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, and intelligent mixes — primarily from shelters and other rescues.
Our goal: rescue, rehabilitate, and evaluate dogs with the potential to become service dogs, while finding loving homes for those who are best suited as pets.
Rehabilitation
Many rescues need guidance to thrive in human homes. Our experienced Behaviorist, Franc Floyd, provides 24/7 rehabilitation in her own home, assessing each dog’s strengths and potential as a service dog.
This step is essential to ensure every dog is matched appropriately, whether for service work or family adoption.
Obedience & Behavior
We offer one-on-one obedience training and behavioral consultations:
Cost: $45/hour for standard sessions
Behavioral evaluations: required before discussing fees for complex issues
Classes: Puppy, adolescent, and young adult classes in Harrison County
(requirements: up-to-date shots, no aggression history, not in season)
Currently, we do not offer a board-and-train program for basic services — our personal facilities are reserved for service dog training.
Note: A per-mile travel charge may apply if training is done off-site.
Service Dogs
Our mission: turn rescue dogs into service dogs for those in deepest need.
Cost savings: While traditional service dogs cost $20,000–$50,000, ours range from $2,500–$15,000 because clients actively participate in training.
Specialties: Autism assistance, PTSD & psychiatric support, diabetic alert, seizure response, hearing assistance, and brace/mobility work.
Evaluations: $200; training package: 45-day intensive $750, additional sessions $65 each.
Important: Not every dog can become a service dog — we are brutally honest about evaluations.
We do NOT train guide dogs for the blind.

Adoption
Dogs that do not meet service dog criteria still make excellent pets — often already trained, housebroken, and leash-ready.
Requirements: Home visits, adoption application, and fee
Updates and available dogs are posted on our social media.
